MHS Bulletin for 11.05.08

  • Today, Juniors in Group 11A will meet in the Library for their first session of Group Guidance.  Juniors are also advised to check the green lists posted by the main office, guidance, and in the cafeteria for their group numbers. All those in Group 11A must report to the Library promptly at 9:22.  Ms. Bernard’s Group 12A will meet for Library Lab.
  • What a week in the United States!  Thank you to all who voted in our Mock Presidential Election.  Barack Obama won 78% of the votes in our historic election experience. We had a 31% voter turnout, with Juniors having a 40%. Our results for all the questions and further information is posted in the front hall and in the bulletin case in the Humanities wing.  Good job for showing your civic pride!

  • Spanish Club Meeting this Thursday immediately after school to discuss our upcoming November activities.  Meeting will be brief but important!
  • We still have spaces left for Spain travelers.  See K. Kelley in room 229.  Come share other cultures and see the world!!!
  • Attention Freshmen:  Buy your Shirts for Spirit Week!  Order them from Summer Graham or Brenda Garcia today or tomorrow.  $10 each.  Show your Freshman spirit!!
  • Hear ye!  Hear ye!  The Echo is accepting poems, stories, and artwork for our first issue of the year.  Put your words or pictures in the lovely envelopes in your English classes.
  • GYPSY tickets are now on sale in the main office. You absolutely do not want to miss this blockbuster musical starring your classmates! The show is November 7 and 8 and student tickets are $7. Get them today!
  • Please pick up your Bus Passes in the main office.
  • Conditioning Program between seasons with Coach Markland.  Sign up outside room 128. Program begins November 10.
  • All Key Club Members – reminder that $10 dues are expected to be paid by November 15.
    Children’s Book Drive:  The Book Club is collecting new and gently used children’s books for kids-in-need up to age 12.  There will be collection bins in the front office and in room 215 until November 14.  Contact Katie Vhay for more information.
  • Seniors: If you haven’t yet chosen a Yearbook Portrait please do so immediately. If you are having trouble with the website, email the Portrait ID number to weddings@haywardphotography.com   Be sure to include your full name and the portrait ID number of your choice.  See Ms. McDonough with questions about the process.
  • Juniors and Seniors:  Don’t forget to order your Class Ring during all lunches today.
    Outdoors Club will meet today in room 211 immediately after school.
    Attention all Juniors: Please attend a Pep Rally meeting today after school in Mrs. Damiani’s room (245).
  • All students planning to go on the French Exchange in February please come to a meeting after school today in room 306.
  • The Sewing club will meet after school today. We’ll work on items to sell at our fundraiser. For more info., see Mrs. Lovett
  • LifeSmarts meeting after school today in room 307.
  • Ping Pong Club is starting up on Friday in room 225.  There will be playing immediately after the brief meeting.  Old and new are all welcome.
  • Community Service opportunity:  There will be a Cradles to Crayons Drive during the week of Nov 10 – 14.  Many volunteers are needed on Saturday, Nov. 15th from 10 to 12 and 2 to 4 to sort clothing, books and baby equipment at Cunningham Hall.   • The Ricky Coombs Memorial 5K Fun Run will take place at Cunningham Park this Sunday with proceeds to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Summer Camps.  Glover School student Emma Russell is the Mass. Goodwill Ambassador.  Come and meet Emma and local firefighters and support this Fun Run.  For info call 698-7502.  Registration Forms are available in guidance.
  • Anyone coming to the Fall Fling MUST be in school for the entire day on Monday.– no late arrivals or dismissals per the handbook.
  • What’s so secret about the Secret Life of Bees?  Join the Book Club on Monday, Nov. 10  as we take on and discuss Sue Monk Kidd’s first novel.
  • Art Club:  Mandatory emergency meeting on Monday in room 106 at 2:30.
  • All Volleyball Players:  All teams please bring your $44 in cash to Coach Lee in room 102 no later than Tuesday, Nov. 11, for your sweats.  There will be a mandatory meeting right after school on Tuesday.
    3C’s Fashion Show model auditions Wednesday, November 12 right after school in the cafeteria.  Girls, bring your heels!
  • Indoor Track Meeting on Thursday, Nov 13, at 2:30 pm in room 128.
  • Attention Seniors:  Any senior who is interested in taking the AFL-CIO Scholarship Exam on February 4, 2009 must sign up in the guidance office.   All students signing up will be required to complete an application and pick up a study guide.
