Temple Shalom Speaker series to feature author Joan Leegant, author of the novel Wherever You Go, published in July 2010, and a collection of stories called An Hour in Paradise. This collection won the Penn/New England Book Award, the Wallant Award for Jewish Fiction, and was a finalist for the National Jewish Book Award.

The Department of Conservation and Recreation laid out its plans to build a pond at one of four possible sites in the Blue Hills Reservation on Monday night. The project would fulfill a 10-year-old permit obligation to replace wetlands lost when the Quincy Quarries were drained of water and plugged with landfill in 2000. (Read the full story here.)
A dozen young musicians from around the country will return to Milton from their academic and professional lives to perform a hometown concert in celebration of the Milton Young Musicians Festival, which turns 25 in 2011. The featured performers are alumni of the festival who have gone on to work professionally in music.

A recently formed group of Milton school parents, the Milton Visual Arts Alliance, conducted a survey recently to gauge parents knowledge of the state of arts instruction in the school and their support for visual arts as an important and fundamental part of the curriclum.
