Temple Shalom of Milton and its Sisterhood installed new slates of officers and directors at its Annual Congregational Meeting on Sunday, June 12, 2011. The meeting was held at the Temple’s new temporary spiritual home in the Great Hall of the First Congregational Church. Almost 100 members and friends attended the meeting and installation.
There was nothing to indicate that last night’s meeting of Trustees of the Governor Stoughton property would go smoothly. The trustees were scheduled to vote to approve one of five proposals submitted in response to an RFP on development of the property commonly known as the Town Farm. Getting to this point has been a long and arduous process for the trustees. Public sessions have historically be contentious and last night was no exception.

National Grid has begun maintenance work on 3,800 feet of gas main on Granite Avenue and Adams Street, including East Milton Square.

According to Universal Hub, a Boston based blog, teh MBTA is going to be cutting parking rates at unpopular parking lots. Included in this list are lots along the Mattapan line (i.e. Milton, Butler, and Mattapan.) You can find the story here.
The annual Milton Road Race organized by the Milton Junior Women’s Club was run last evening under gorgeous skies. The club did an outstanding job and it was all good fun. Proceeds go to fund high school scholarships. Here are the top finishers for both the 5K and the 10K.

Dr. Drottar has served the Milton Public Schools for a long time. At the recent graduation he gave his last lecture. His remarks were brief and to the point. And we should all take them to heart.

Milton Girl Scout Troop 74135 is raising funds to help our local Milton Animal Shelter. The girls made adorable puppy and kitten zipper pull/necklaces to help raise money for the many shelter pets that are housed in Milton. For a donation of $3 or more, you will receive a necklace or zipperpull.
