News release from Tucker School
Tucker Elementary School has become the first public elementary school in Milton to install SMART Boards in every classroom.
This accomplishment makes Tucker first in the district-wide push to make the interactive whiteboard technology available to all elementary students. According to Tucker principal Marcia Uretsky, the technology is a boon for teachers of today’s technologically-savvy learners.

Last night the Milton Foundation for Education applied their event planning skills to thank the major donors who step up to the plate in support of the organization’s mission to enhance the education and expand the opportunities for Milton school children.

State and local fire officials are still investigating to determine what caused the three-alarm blaze that gutted the house at 1170 Brook Road on Tuesday. It took firefighters from Milton, Randolph, Canton and Boston to knock down the fire, which was reported at about 2:30 p.m. and left the two-story colonial-style home uninhabitable, Milton Deputy Fire Chief Brian Linehan said. Milton High Science teacher, Loyola Pasiewicz, was recently selected for a national fellowship that recognizes promising new teachers.
The Governor has proclaimed November to be Family Literacy month. The Governor in a release says, “An early love of reading is key to a child’s development. We use this celebration each year to recognize the important contributions that families make all year round in helping children develop strong literacy skills.” You can learn more here.

A jury took about 30 minutes to acquit a Norfolk County court official of drunken driving.
Brian G. Roche, 42, an assistant clerk magistrate at Norfolk Superior Court in Dedham, did not take the stand during the day-long trial in Brockton District Court Monday. (Read the full story here.)

For better or worse, Milton has a new distinction: it is one of a handful of towns in the Commonwealth that is in two congressional districts. According to the new congressional map released by legislative leaders and now in a comment phase, residents west of Blue Hill Parkway and Harland Street will be in the 7th Congressional District. Those east of Blue Hill Parkway and Harland will be in the 8th. So who’s your congressman?
The DCR has published a web site about what they are calling the Neponset River Corridor. This includes the extension of the greenway from Central Ave in Milton out to Mattapan. The site includes news, documents, maps and a gallery of images.
