Stephen E. Wilkie, of Milton, passed away unexpectedly, in the company of his loving family, on Sunday, March 22, 2015. A life long Milton resident, Stephen graduated from Milton High School in 1972 and was a 25 year employee of Instron Corp., Norwood and a 15 year employee of College Town, Inc.

Update from MPD on Craig Street incident

This afternoon an incident took place on Craig St off Blue Hill Ave that drew significant resources into the neighborhood. Each day MPD fields all types of calls for service. Many calls are routine incidents, some are serious and every so often you receive a call for a scene that has the potential to endanger life. As the media has reported publicly, this incident is one that escalated very quickly.

Explosive device is found in Milton house

The Boston police bomb squad removed and disarmed an explosive device found in a home in Milton on Tuesday, authorities said.

Milton police called the Boston department for assistance at about 3:45 p.m. after the device was discovered in the house on Craig Street, according to David Estrada, a spokesman for Boston police. (Read the full story here.)

Police in Milton said they discovered a device Tuesday that was intended to blow up the house it was located in.

Craig Street, where the home was located, remains closed as police continue to investigate the suspicious device, which was described as a container, wrapped in wires and located in a closet. (Read the full story here.)

2015 candidates unanimously support override for firefighter

There was a wide variety of issues and topics discussed at last night’s Milton Speaks Candidate Forum; but there was a unanimous answer to a question Pat Desmond, publisher of the Milton Times, asked of all candidates for all offices. All candidates for all offices (Selectman, Library Trustee, School Committee, Park Commissioner) all endorse an override to fund the health costs associated with firefighter Antonio Pickens.

Milton Library Offers Free Yoga Classes for Teens

In April, the Milton Library will offer a series of yoga classes after school for tweens and teens (ages 11-18). Classes will be held on April 8 and April 15 at 3pm. Jill Pokaksi, who also teaches yoga for children at the library, will teach the series. Advance registration is required and teens must register for each class individually. Mats will be provided, but participants are welcome to bring their own. Come check it out!

The Sky Over Milton – a perfomance project by PearlDamour featuring Milton(s)!

We have been aware of this project for some time but did not know quite what to make of it. And still don’t. But it is interesting. The project, The Sky Over Milton, is a performance piece by pearldamour (Katie Pearl and Lisa D’Amour) that compiles information and stories from all the cities/towns in America named Milton. There are five. In addition to . . . here . . .there are Miltons in North Carolina, Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Oregon.
