Update from MPD on Craig Street incident

The following is from the Milton Police Dept Facebook page

This afternoon an incident took place on Craig St off Blue Hill Ave that drew significant resources into the neighborhood. Each day MPD fields all types of calls for service. Many calls are routine incidents, some are serious and every so often you receive a call for a scene that has the potential to endanger life. As the media has reported publicly, this incident is one that escalated very quickly.

The first MPD officers to respond made a very quick judgment call based on the information provided to them by the person who found this device inside of the home. Specialized Boston Police /EOD Technicians responded with sophisticated bomb equipment. They quickly confirmed the suspicion that this was a real device planted inside this home. The home was isolated and over the next two and a half hours, these EOD technicians took painful measures to access, identify and disable this device. In the end it took many Police personnel, the valued assistance of MFD as well as EOD K9Fozzie and her partner to render this location and the device safe.

We want to thank the residents of the Craig St. neighborhood for your patience and help today. This was an isolated and unusual event but no citizens outside of this dwelling were ever in danger as this operation took place. The investigation remains very active for MPD Detectives. Anyone with information on this crime may contact Detective Mike Dillon, mdillon@mpdmilton.org
Job well done by all involved today…
