DPW director Joe Lynch reviewed two developments with the Selectmen that required their approval. The first was to move forward with a grant stemming from Safe Routes to School initiative. This is a nationwide program that encourages students to walk or ride their bikes to school. There is an opportunity to make infrastructure improvements to the Canton Avenue / Brook Road intersection to improve pedestrian and bicycle safety.

Collections will begin on Tuesday 11/12 til Saturday 11/16 – Friday’s collection will occur on Saturday 11/16
“Strong and Funny Women” is the theme of this season’s Winter Movie Series of Cong. Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills, co-sponsored by the First Congregational Church, and open to the public. The opening film is “Making Trouble”. The film will be screened in Huntington Hall of the First Congregational Church, 495 Canton Avenue, Milton, with entry at the rear door.
Fontbonne Academy’s Good Fountain Players will perform the play, “Steel Magnolias” November 22- 24 in the Fontbonne Auditorium, located at 930 Brook Road in Milton. The showtimes are: Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, at 7 p.m.

The unprecedented presence of an estimated 250 Milton school teachers at last night’s School Committee meeting made a strong statement regarding their displeasure and concern over the status of contract negotiations with the committee and administration.

The City of Quincy has authorized the Neponset River Watershed Association to proceed on constructing the final portion of the two mile long northern section of the Quincy Neponset Riverwalk. Once the project is complete, the Riverwalk will run along the Neponset Estuary from the pile-supported gazebo at Adams Inn north to Squantum Point in DCR’s Squantum Point Park.
