“Strong and Funny Women” film series opens with “Making Trouble”

“Strong and Funny Women” is the theme of this season’s Winter Movie Series of Cong. Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills, co-sponsored by the First Congregational Church, and open to the public.  The opening film is “Making Trouble”.  The film will be screened in Huntington Hall of the First Congregational Church, 495 Canton Avenue, Milton, with entry at the rear door.

“Making Trouble” tells the story of six of the greatest female comic performers of theater, film and television history during the last century.  Molly Picon, Fanny Brice, Sophie Tucker, Joan Rivers, Gilda Radner and Wendy Wasserstein made an indelible impact on the entertainment world, their audiences and the times they lived in.  Each of these stars brought something new and unique to the world, but all shared the gift- and the burden- of being funny, being Jewish and being female.

The donation for admission is $3.00 per person, or two for $5.00.  Advance reservations get a free popcorn or bottle of water. Become a Movie Series Sponsor for $18 and get tickets for all three movies, Nov. 16th, Jan. 25th– “A Midwife’s Tale”, and Feb. 15th –  “The Jewish Mother in Cinema”, with preferred seating, popcorn and drinks.
