Katherine Comber, class of ’14, named Nat’l Merit Scholarship finalist
Fontbonne Academy is pleased to announce that Katherine Comber, a member of the Class of 2014 and a resident of Milton, MA, has been named a Finalist in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Competition. This is the second year in a row that a Fontbonne Academy student has been named as a finalist in this national competition.
Representative Cullinane to hold Milton office hours
Beginning March 7, Dan Cullinane, whose district includes portions of Hyde Park, Mattapan, Milton, and Dorchester, will be in the communities every Friday, as part of his “Dan in the District” initiative.
Representative Cullinane will be at the Plate, 27 Central Ave., from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. He will be will answer questions and discuss issues with residents on a first come first serve basis.

The Planning Board will be meeting on Thursday, February 27 at 6:30pm in the Blute Conference Room at Town Hall. The agenda includes but is not limited to annual Town Meeting zoning articles. You can find the full agenda for this and all municipal meetings here.
Teen Creative Writing Workshop with Kathryn Burak
On Monday, March 10 at 7 p.m., the Milton Public Library will host a creative writing workshop led by Kathryn Burak for local teens. Ms. Burak is a Milton resident, a teacher at Boston University, the poetry editor at YARN (yareview.net), and the author of the Edgar Award-nominated young adult novel, Emily’s Dress and Other Missing Things.

Campaign season kicks off with Candidate Meet & Greets

The 2014 campaign season got underway in earnest this past week end as two candidates, one running for re-election to the Board of Selectmen and one for Planning Board, kicked off their efforts with Meet & Greets to recruit support and introduce themselves to voters.
Art (in French!) and Pre-K creative fun on tap at Artspace Milton
Registration is now open for two Artspace Milton classes. Students in Gr 1-4 can exercise their creative side and reinforce their French languages skills with Deguster et Illustrer. The Pre-K set can enjoy a immersing themselves in a variety multimedia projects with during the Pre-K Art Lab. Learn more from their web site here.
Lecture: Barn Owls for rodent control
If you have a small farm , a big rodent problem, or you’re just interested in environmentally- friendly agriculture, you might want to attend a lecture by Dr. Motti Charter on “Project Bird Box Israel,” which uses barn owls instead of poison to control rodents in Israel, Jordan, and the Palestinian Authority.
Riverside Theatre Works Kicks Off March Concert Series with Curragh’s Fancy
Riverside Theatre Works in Hyde Park inaugurates its annual March Concert Series on Friday, March 7 with Curragh’s Fancy, a Celtic music trio based in the Boston area. This lively trio has performed at concerts, festivals, pubs, and coffeehouses from Maine to Florida.
