Milton bank robbery suspect arrested in Boston

Milton police on Friday confirmed the Thursday arrest of David Lydon, 28, of Chelsea, shortly after he allegedly robbed a Dorchester bank. Lydon is also a suspect in the Tuesday unarmed robbery of a Santander Bank in East Milton Square. (Read the full story here.)

Meetinghouse Bank robbed, suspect in custody

Another area bank was robbed last Thursday. This time it was the Meetinghouse Bank in Lower Mills and the suspect was apprehended. This suspect was also wanted for the robbery of the Santander Bank in East Milton (related post here)

Boston Police arrested a suspect in a brazen early afternoon bank robbery in Dorchester Lower Mills today, and he was arrested with the help of a fleet-footed bank executive. (Read the full story here.)

Lifesize Clue for Adults at the Milton Library

Attention, mystery-loving teens and adults! On Friday, September 12, from 5-9 p.m., the Keys Community Room becomes a giant board game of Lifesize Clue for adults and teens. Vie for prizes and solve mysteries. (A school age version will run the next day, September 13 from 2-3 p.m.)

Meeting: Board of Selectmen

The Board of Selectmen will be meeting on Tuesday, September 2 at 6:30pm in the Cronin Conference Room at Town Hall. The agenda begins with an executive session to discuss 0 Central Ave (Hendries). The agenda for open session includes but is not limited to a Chapter 139 public hearing on 131 Eliot Street, an update on 0 Central Ave and a discussion of the Swifte Hat Shop. Adult Painting Classes  Begin September 16

Watercolor and oil painting classes for adults and talented teens will be taught by Beth Neville beginning Tuesday, September 16. Classes meet from 7 to 9 p.m. and students may choose either Monday or Tuesday evenings, at their convenience.

Milton Cultural Council awarded $6K grant

Senator Brian A. Joyce announced that the Massachusetts Cultural Council (MCC) has awarded the Milton Cultural Council a $6,270 grant. These grants support a wide variety of cultural activities and projects that benefit local residents, while supporting jobs in the nonprofit cultural sector. The announcement was made as part of MCC’s statewide funding program.

Quincy Choral Society Announces Upcoming Season

Rehearsals to be Held in Milton

For its 2014-2015 season, the Quincy Choral Society will share with its audiences a wide variety of music, featuring prominent classical composers and accomplished Broadway composers and lyricists. The season will kick off on December 7 when the chorus will present seasonal music including Karl Jenkins’ Stella Natalis (Star of Birth), celebrating different aspects of Christmas: the sleeping child, peace, winter, and thanksgiving.

Children’s programs 9/7-9/13 @ MPL: LIFE SIZE CLUE GAME!!!

School may have started, but the fun for kids continues all year long at the Milton Public Library! In addition to our regular storytimes on Monday and Tuesday, we have these exciting programs for the young people in your life happening during the week of September 7 – 13:
