Rehearsals to be Held in Milton
For its 2014-2015 season, the Quincy Choral Society will share with its audiences a wide variety of music, featuring prominent classical composers and accomplished Broadway composers and lyricists. The season will kick off on December 7 when the chorus will present seasonal music including Karl Jenkins’ Stella Natalis (Star of Birth), celebrating different aspects of Christmas: the sleeping child, peace, winter, and thanksgiving. On March 15 the chorus will be “Swingin’ into Spring” with music by George Gershwin, Jimmy Van Heusen, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, and Frank Loesser. On May 17 the chorus will conclude its season with choral music related to the beauty and wonder of nature including John Rutter’s For the Beauty of the Earth, Antonin Dvorak’s Songs of Nature, and Randall Thompson’s Frostiana. The December and May concerts will be held at Sacred Heart Church in North Quincy at 7:30 p.m. The March concert will be held at Quincy Catholic Academy at 2:00 p.m. and will include a silent auction.
Experienced singers are welcome to attend the first rehearsal on September 8 from 7:30 pm until 9:30 pm at East Congregational Church, 610 Adams Street, on the Milton/Quincy line. The chorus is seeking a limited number of singers in all voice parts, especially tenors and basses. Auditions are scheduled for September 28 and October 6.
