The Milton Police Department reported that two armed robberies occurred last night in Milton.
The first took place at the Tedeschi’s on Randolph Avenue. Two males entered the store at approximately 9:40pm, displayed a handgun and robbed the clerk of an undisclosed amount of money.
At a recent meeting of the Planning Board a member of the board commented that there was little known about the public’s opinion regarding the black oak tree on the Hendries property. Hearing that, Milton resident Elise Brink initiated a drive to collect signatures from residents in favor of preserving the tree.

East Milton Square experienced a false alarm – and major traffic problems – on Friday morning when firefighters evacuated a building on Granite Avenue and stopped all access routes into the Square because of what seemed to be the smell of natural gas. (Read the full story here.)

The Milton Players’ current production Let’s Murder Marsha is the perfect antidote to all this snow and cold. A mad comedy by Monk Ferris, it’s the contemporary story of a woman who becomes truly immersed in her love of crime fiction. Misunderstandings lead to pandemonium, and the who’s murdering whom doesn’t get sorted out until the end.
The RFP that the Board of Selectmen have been working on for proposals from developers for the Governor Stoughton land should be finalized at the board’s next meeting on Wednesday, February 2nd. Note the meeting is on Wednesday not Thursday due to to a scheduling conflict.
East Milton Square had a brief scare this afternoon. A gas leak was detected and the square was shut down while the issue was addressed. Fire and police are on the scene. Some businesses were evacuated and traffic was being re-routed onto the highway. Please avoid the square.
Milton parents now have a new resource for support and advice. Parent411 is opening its doors just over the line in Quincy and will be offering workshops on a variety of topics, including discipline and limit setting, organizational skills, parenting through divorce, and “parenting” only children to name a few.
The Friends and Advocates for the Visual Arts (FAVA) held the second of two art workshops at the library on January 23rd and a fine time was had by all. The printmaking workshop was taught by Karen Hainline and Jess Gillooly with ample assistance from Leesha Boylan, and Milton High School students Miranda Callahan, Katie Comber, Ally Jones and Amelia Quinn. They all helped to make the day a great success.
