It has brought many new visitors into the Milton Art Center and added zest to the nascent nightlife in East Milton Square. St. Michael’s Advent Processional

On Sunday, November 30, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church is pleased to present the annual Advent Processional, a candlelit service with procession, seasonal readings and music for the Season of Advent.

Teen Friday Flicks

 

Once a month, an after school movie is shown in the library for teens. Movie choices have been posted on Facebook, Tumblr, and at the library in the teen room. Cast your vote at any of these locations. Friday Flicks are after school for students in grades 6-12. 

‘Gourmet burger’ eatery planned in Lower Mills

Devotees of southern soul food were disappointed when Mrs. Jones, a popular take-out spot at 2255 Dorchester Avenue, abruptly closed its doors last May after its namesake owner fell ill. This month, a Mattapan entrepreneur has assumed control of the village storefront and hopes to open his new venture named “Bred Gourmet” — with plans to serve up a mix of burgers, smoothies and salads to a health-conscious clientele. Board of Appeals opens hearing on Falconi proposal for East Milton restaurant

The Board of Appeals (BoA) opened a hearing for a special permit requested by the Falconi Companies with regard to a restaurant they want open at the site of the old Milton Cinema. A special permit is required principally to obtain approval from the board for the restaurant parking plan and reconstruction of the site. The proposal was presented by Marion McEttrick, an attorney representing the Falconi Companies. It was a long night.

East Church “Reading Changes Lives” Holiday Book Fair and Story and Craft Time

In conjunction with Milton’s Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and “Visit from Santa” in East Milton Square, East Congregational Church (two blocks away at 610 Adams Street) will present a literacy event entitled “Reading Changes Lives” on Sunday, November 30, 3:30 – 6:30 pm This fun and family-friendly event will feature a story time with some new and some classic Christmas and holiday stories, enhanced with homemade cookies and milk. Craft activities will be offered in the church’s Fellowship Hall.

Teen Creative Writing Workshop

On Monday, December 8 at 7 p.m., the Milton Public Library will host a creative writing workshop for local teens led by teen librarian Amy Rosa this month. The writing workshops focus on tips and techniques for writing fiction with this month’s topic being character development.

Congrats to the Milton Squirt A on tournament win

The hits keep coming for Milton hockey teams. The Milton Squirt A hockey team won the Green Mountain tournament at Jay Peak, Vermont this past weekend, ending with an 8-2 victory over the East Coast Wizards in the championship game. Congrats to team and coaches!
