As the fall Jewish holiday season approaches, Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills (formerly Temples Shalom of Milton and Beth El of Quincy) invites interested individuals and families in the surrounding area to join us in observing and celebrating the various holidays. High Holiday services begin with Erev Rosh Hashanah on Sept. 24th, under the direction of spiritual leader Rabbi Alfred Benjamin and Cantor Saralee Shrell-Fox.

Among pines and oaks, under a clear blue sky, the Congregation of Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills, joined by a large group of friends, neighbors, and town and state officials, began to dig a foundation for their future here in Milton. The groundbreaking for their new temple was a joyous event for the congregation and the town after years of seeking a new home. They now have a home thanks to a generous donation of land from Marvin and Andrea Gordon.
Groundbreaking for Congregation Beth Shalom
After three years of searching for a new spiritual home, members and guests of Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills will break ground for a new synagogue on a new road, Shoolman Way, off Lodge Street in Milton, on Sunday, June 22nd at 4:00 p.m. The bucolic location for the new building was generously donated to the congregation by Marvin and Andrea Gordon, and it has a singular historical significance.

Last night’s Planning Board session was an evening, as one attendee put it, that was remarkable for Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills and remarkable for our town. An incredibly thorough presentation coupled with a demonstration of community solidarity resulted in a positive outcome for the Marvin and Andrea Gordon’s gift of land to Temple Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills. In a unanimous vote, the Planning Board approved a subdivision plan for the property. The Congegation, after years of searching, can now have a new permanent home in Milton.

“Mamadrama: The Jewish Mother in Cinema” will be the concluding film in this season’s Winter Movie Series of Cong. Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills (formerly Temple Shalom of Milton and Temple Beth El of Quincy), co-sponsored by Milton’s First Congregational Church.
