The town of Milton may soon be without a Jewish temple, following a failed zoning change that leaders of Temple Shalom, the town’s only synagogue, say would have given them a chance to rebuild and stay at their present location. (Read the full story here.)
Denis Keohane
Denis Keohane is running for a seat on the Milton School Committee. He is one of 4 candidates that have filed papers hoping to be elected. There are two open seats on the Committee. Beirne Lovely is retiring this year and Glenn Pavlicek is up for re-election.
In addition to Mr. Keohane, the other candidates to file papers are Mr. Pavlicek, J. Murray Regan, and Margaret Eberhardt.

We are thrilled to learn that Tazjah a pit bull residing at the Milton Animal League has been adopted! And man oh man is she happy!
It would be great if someone could find a spot in their home for Lolly, a one year old spayed female American Bull Dog – Pit Bull terrier mix who, the shelter folkds doubt , has never lived in a house but had to live her life on the end of a chain outside.
We reported a couple of weeks ago that Chris Sullivan was stepping aside as Director of the Forbes Museum to focus on program development for the organization. The Museum issued a formal release today.

I never knew when I moved to Milton I would have the opportunity to own waterfront property. If temperatures fall below freezing tonight my backyard will a hockey players dream.
There is a person on the Board of Selectmen some would consider a liberal, another that some consider a conservative. McEttrick is neither. If the Board of Selectmen has an independent it is Marion McEttrick.

The high school was in lock down for nearly four hours Monday after a parent found a shotgun shell outside the main entrance.
Deputy Police Chief Charles Paris said officers using specially trained dogs from Quincy and Boston police were unable to uncover any weapons or ammunition during a search of classrooms, lockers, common areas and student backpacks. (Read the full story here.)

A recent article in the Argus Press reported that local bar owners in the latest state to establish a smoking ban are furious. Michigan is the 38th state to go “smoke free” in restaurants, bars, and workplaces.
