Denis Keohane is running for a seat on the Milton School Committee. He is one of 4 candidates that have filed papers hoping to be elected. There are two open seats on the Committee. Beirne Lovely is retiring this year and Glenn Pavlicek is up for re-election.

In addition to Mr. Keohane, the other candidates to file papers are Mr. Pavlicek, J. Murray Regan, and Margaret Eberhardt.

The following was contributed by the candidate:

“During these harsh economic times, when our budget is never enough but our costs continue to rise, it is time for a no-nonsense person with over twenty years of experience in business, finance, and management, to help guide the Milton Public Schools onto a stronger financial footing.”

“I will be an Independent voice for the schoolchildren and taxpayers of Milton,” said Keohane, who has lived in Milton for the past 16 years. “I bring to the table years of experience in business management, budgeting, and dealing with individuals, community associations, political and union leaders that I have attained from owning and operating my own property development company for the past 20 years.”

In addition to being a town and travel soccer coach for many years, Denis has a long term commitment to the Milton Public Schools, where his three daughters have attended Tucker Elementary and presently attend Pierce Middle and Milton High School. For five years in succession, he has backed up his commitment by sponsoring with his wife Mary an all expense paid trip to Ireland for the benefit of the Milton Foundation for Education. This sponsorship has raised over $100,000 for the Foundation and benefited several important programs throughout the Milton Public School system. “There are talkers and there are doers and I believe I have earned the reputation of being a doer.”

“I am a responsible, qualified and committed candidate, and I want to be a part of giving all our children the very best education we can, within the taxpayers’ ability to sustain.” Denis Keohane is originally from County Cork in Ireland; came to the US in 1988 at the age of 21; married to Mary for 19 years; earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business Management from Eastern Nazarene College and is the president and CEO of the Keohane Company Limited, a Massachusetts property development company.
