Fontbonne Academy honors 100 in 54th Graduation

Fontbonne Academy graduated 100 seniors this evening under their traditional white tent on the Fontbonne lawn. The breeze was blowing while the young women in their white caps and gowns took the stage and received their diplomas from Head of School, Mary Ellen Barnes.

Last night Chief Richard Wells addressed a gathering of approximately 100 residents at St. Mary’s of the Hills. He was there along with Lt. Charlie Paris and Detective William West to speak about the rash of home and car robberies that have occurred. His message was clear: The mission of public safety is everyone’s responsibility. It was a lesson he learned at a community meeting at the glover School back in 986 and he hasn’t forgotten. “The public is in the mission of public safety.”

Glover Schools makes way for ducklings!
It is becoming something of an annual right of passage at the Glover School. Yesterday afternoon a mother mallard marched her new charges, all 11 of them, through a human “hallway” of students from the outside of the school down to the water.
Six MHS Students heading to Leadership Conference

Six Milton High School juniors will be heading to Stonehill College this summer as part of a leadership conference sponsored by the American Legion.
Students are chosen who have demonstrated an interest in government and current events. In addition, the selection crtieria includes high moral character, strong leadership abilities and above average scholastic standing.
Temple Shalom to remain in town – a temporary home has been found!
Temple Shalom, which recently sought to redevelop their property in an effort to grapple with financial concerns and establish a home for the future, had to sell their land. But they are going to remain in Milton. The First Congregational Church will be opening their doors to the Temple and affording them a temporary home.

MA Supreme Court rules in Milton’s favor – no cell tower in Blue Hills
On May 18th the Massachusetts Supreme Court issued its ruling on the appeal made by Green Mountain Realty Corporation.
Green Mountain was appealing a decision by The Milton Zoning Board of Appeals which ruled that the construction of a cell tower on land owned by the state and leased by Green Mountain at exit ramp off I93 at Houghton’s Pond would have serious adverse impacts and should not be built.
MHS tennis standout Ariana Launie to vie for South Title

Ariana Launie of Milton High will be facing off against Alana Prinot of Foxboro for the for South Sectional Title. It is the second time they’ve met. In 2009 Prinos came out on top. Milton is rooting for a different outcome this time around.
