Bill Ritchie, Director of Consolidated Facilities, confirmed this morning that there was a failure of the solar panel structures on the roof of town hall that resulted in several falling off the roof. Mr. Ritchie said many look loose and a crane is being brought in today to remove all the remaining panels. There are ~140 in all.

Come celebrate the arrival of spring with “Raising the Roof”, a free benefit concert put on by Milton Community Concerts on Sunday afternoon March 15th at 4:00. Along with the First Parish Meetinghouse Choir, under the direction of Timothy Steele, this concert will also feature the Sanctuary Choir and Bell Choir from the United Church of Christ in Norwell, MA.
The Rotary Club of Milton is actively searching for qualified candidates to attend this year’s Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) Conference, which will be held from May 15th through May 17th, 2015 at the Cape Cod Sea Camps in Brewster, MA. The Annual RYLA Conference will offer outstanding high school juniors an opportunity to live, work and interact together in an atmosphere of cooperation and friendly competition.

Two solar panels have fallen of fallen off the roof at town hall. Others appear to be buckling and at risk. Town officials will monitor situation. The structure is believed to be sound. Meetings at town hall have been cancelled for this evening.

A hearing that began in July of last year for Milton’s first 40B application closed last night. The 3 member Board of Appeals, Chaired by Brian Hurley, deliberated briefly and ruled unanimously to grant the permit which will allow Carrick Realty to move forward with construction of a 57 unit apartment building at the site of the Hendries building. This is the first 40B development to be approved in Milton.
The Board of the Milton Foundation for Education invites all members of the Milton Public Schools community to nominate a teacher for our OUTSTANDING TEACHER AWARD PROGRAM, also known as TEACHER OF THE YEAR.
Since 2001, the MFE has recognized the extraordinary contributions made by our teachers in the Milton Public Schools by celebrating a teacher from each school for their dedication and determination to bring quality educational experiences to our students. To date, 101 teachers have received this honor.
