Keohane announces bid for re-election to Board of Selectmen

The following was submitted by the candidate

keohane_familyI am thrilled to announce my candidacy for re-election to the Board of Selectman on April 28th 2015 in the town we all love and proud to call home. I was born and raised in Ireland and came to the US in 1988 at the age of 21. I’m a twenty two year resident of Milton, a husband to Mary (from Arlington) for 24 years and father to our three daughters, Emily (21), Northeastern University, Julia (20), Drexel University, and Olivia (17) MHS, all educated in Milton Schools.

Who should run for election? How about you!

Commentary by Frank Schroth

Your town needs you. This election season with one notable exception is developing into a tremendously tepid affair. Only one major town wide seat is being contested – Board of Selectmen. At the moment the Planning Board, School Committee, Library Board of Trustees, Cemetery, and Parks Commission are all one candidate per seat races. At least those seats have candidates. Where town meeting is concerned, there are currently 18 seats that, if no one steps up, will go empty.

Ulin Rink open

by Frank Schroth

As reported here, on the town web site, and in yesterday’s Globe, the Ulin Rink was closed recently by DCR that deemed it unsafe until snow was removed from the roof. Curry College removed that snow and completed the work in time to have the rink reopened in time for the scheduled MIAA tournament game between MHS Girls and Medway/Ashland.

The recent edition of the Bike Milton newsletter alerted us to the fact that Leonard Nimoy, arguably the brightest star of Star Trek, used to live here in Milton. According to Bike Milton he lived in the area of Temple Shalom (now Concord Baptist Church).
