The Milton Early Childhood Alliance is pleased to, once again, offer our “Learning Through Play” play groups for young children. These play groups will be led by Dotty Alexander, M.Ed., a Curry College Early Education and Care Faculty Member along with Curry College Education students.

Newton North 23, Milton 10: Tigers win second straight to start football season

New restaurant coming: Steel & Rye
A new restaurant is coming to the Central Ave. business district. It will be at 95 Eliot Street next to Cakes. There are not a lot of details available; but we do know that it is being run by Christopher Parson who ran the well regarded Parsons Table in Winchester. And it is not likely to open until October. Whatever. . . the name is kind of cool.

Discussions between Connelly and Planning Board re: Hendries to continue
It isn’t over ’til it’s over or, where the planning board is concerned, until the decision to deny is signed.
The Planning Board voted 3-1 to deny a special permit for the proposal Connelly put forward for redeveloping the Hendries property. Bernie Lynch was the dissenting vote. (View post here.) However, the decision resulting from that vote made on 8/24 has not been signed by the board and Chairman Whiteside informed the board that Connelly has asked them to put off the vote.
Archdiocese plans to tear down St Elizabeth Rectory
The old granite rectory building owned by the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Boston (RACB) that sits on the corner of Randolph and Reedsdale could be torn down in the coming weeks. The RACB has requested and been granted a demolition order.
Fall Swim Lessons at Fuller Village
Fuller Village is offering beginner and intermediate level swim lessons, with sessions starting at the end of September and running through December. Lessons are held on Thursdays at 1:00 and 1:30, Fridays at 4:30 and 5:00 and Saturdays at 10:00 and 10:30. Cost is $65/session. Family discounts apply. Temple Shalom hosts Yizkor Service
Temple Shalom of Milton will host a Community Yizkor (Memorial) Service on Yom Kippur evening, Wednesday, Sept. 26th, at approximately 5:45 p.m. The entire community is invited to attend, and no High Holiday tickets are required.
