Give credit where credit is due
Commentary by Frank Schroth
School is back in session this morning. The roads are clear. And while showers are in the forecast – it looks like the worst is over. Town officials should be commended for doing a superb job of preparing for the worst, coordinating efforts among departments, and keeping the public informed. Residents were advised to stay off the roads and they did.
Children’s Church Celebrates 75 Years
Dorothy Pomeroy dreamed of a special church for children – a church where everything would be run by children and everything would be designed for children. In 1937, her dream was realized in the Children’s Church at First Parish in Milton. On Sunday, November 4, the Children’s Church will celebrate its 75th anniversary with a children’s worship service and a children’s concert.
Advice for voters: Read up now on ballot questions
from The Dorchester Reporter (Note – lines in Milton may not be as long as those in Dorchester. However, it is reasonable to expect a high turnout and these are lengthy questions. Sounds like good advice.)
The city’s elections chief is warning voters to read up on the Nov. 6 ballot, saying its length could lead to longer wait times at the polls. The ballot spans two pages and is 18 inches long due to several complex ballot questions dealing with auto repair, assisted suicide and medical marijuana. Some ballots will have a fourth question, a non-binding resolution on federal budget cuts. (Read the full story here.)

Justin Renz & Bridget Gaffney top Monster Dash finishers
Cool Running lists the winner of the 2012 Monster Dash (Men 20 – 59) as Justin Reiz and they do not provide a town. However, we are relatively certain it is Justin Renz of Milton who finished in a time of 17:05 (It took me that long just to find the starting line.). He was followed by Kevin Doyle (18:44) and Kevin Conway (18:52).
