Milton Library Starts Teen Services Blog

The Teen Services department at the Milton Public Library announced this morning that the library is starting a blog focused on teen literature and library services. Visit the new blog at miltonlibraryteens.tumblr.com. Rather than traditional blogging software, the library’s new blog uses Tumblr. Tumblr is a blogging tool that allows users to post original content and to re-blog content created by other users. “I’m always looking for new ways to engage Milton teens,” said Emily Calkins, the library’s Young Adult Librarian. “I noticed that lots of the kids who use the library are also using Tumblr, so it’s a natural fit for us.”

The library’s teen Tumblr will feature book reviews written by members of the library’s Teen Advisory Group (TAG) as well as posts by authors, news about book-to-movie adaptations, information about teen events at the library, and much more. “It’s designed to be fun and useful,” said Calkins. Recent posts include a teen book review, a picture of a French Bulldog in costume as Harry Potter, and info about an upcoming screening of The Hunger Games. For more information about the blog or the Teen Services Department, please contact Emily Calkins at (617) 698-5757 or ecalkins@ocln.org.
