Cops nab robbery suspect

The Stoughton police and federal agents arrested Lucas Gravina yesterday after he robbed a Stoughton bank. Mr. Gravina is a suspect in a number of bank holdups including one in Milton. You can find The Boston Herald’s complete story here.

Day 2 – Fall 2012 Town Meeting: Standing votes determine Coulter can stay; Assisted Living bylaw needs work

Standing votes were called for on both articles that came before last night’s Town Meeting. Article 5 was a citizens petition to permit Coulter Landscaping to remain at his current location on Blue Hill next to the Atherton Fire Station. Article 6 concerned a zoning bylaw to allow for an assisted living facility at the current Horseplay Stables location on Randolph Avenue.

An elderly gentlemen was struck by a vehicle on Randolph Avenue near Heather Drive. Officers on the scene report discovering the vicitm lyin gon the southbound dies of Randolph Ave with serious injuries and in traumatic arrest. He was transferred to BI Deaconess – Milton where he was pronounced dead shortly afterward.

Next week’s election will feature a number of ballot questions. One that is likely to be as tightly contested as the Senate race is one asking voters if Milton should join the Community Preservation Act. We sat down early yesterday evening with Bill Benett and Kevin Sorgi of Preservation without Taxation, a group opposed to the CPA and also with Tom Hurley and Katie Conlon of Preserve Milton, an organization in favor of joining. The program will air on MATV tonight, tomorrow, and Sunday night at 7:30pm. And again on Monday at 6:30pm.

Wildcats enter MIAA soccer tournament play

The Milton Wildcats boys soccer team (20) will take on Norwell (13) in the initial round of the MIAA Division2 South Tournament. The game will be held today (Nov 2) at 2:30pm at Scituate High School (map). The game had to be moved due to storm damage in Norwell. The winner will move on to face Hingham (4) Sunday in Hingham at noon.

The Lorin Lavador Personal Caregiver of the Year Award honors those who have provided outstanding care and support during the course of treatment or illness.

Milton football spoils Brookline High Senior Day, 32-14

Deciding what to do on fourth down is often a game-changing decision, one way or the other. Milton coach Jim Bowes would choose to “go for it,” four times against Brookline during last Saturday’s game.
