Notice from the Milton Police Department

RESIDENTS: There was a Breaking and Entering on Magnolia Road this morning while the resident was in the home. The resident reports that the door bell rang and after a few seconds he heard a loud crash. When he looked down the stairs he noticed a white male quickly running out the front door. The suspect got in to the passenger seat of a gray colored four door vehicle (possibly a Honda Civic). The Detective Bureau is currently investigating this situation.

Glenn PavlicekYesterday Superintendent Gormley and the School Committee along with a crowd of family, friends, and town officials expressed their gratitude and respect to Glenn Pavlicek who is stepping off the board he has served on for 9 years. I suspect I was not the only one wondering, “Say it ain’t so, Glenn.”  But alas, it is, as perhaps it should be. As Mr. Pavlicek noted, “it is time for other people to step up. You don’t move forward by staying in place.”

One of Milton’s most rewarding and easiest volunteer committees is seeking new members. Membership on the Milton Cultural Council is open to persons interested in awarding grants for programs in local arts and cultural activities.

Just a reminder to make sure you lock your motor vehicles at all times. There have been five MV breaks reported so far today. It’s an easy way to prevent anyone from getting in to your car and stealing your property.

Milton resident offers free yoga class to cope with tragedy

Fran Karoff a Milton resident and health and yoga instructor is hosting a free yoga session this Thursday to help people work through the experience of the Boston Marathon tragedy. The class, often called “a meditation in motion,” will be held in the Carney Hospital’s Cushing Auditorium on the 2nd floor. Parking is available in the front and back lots.

Tucker has a new principal

Superintendent Mary Gormley has announced the new principal for the Tucker Elementary School. Dr. Elaine McNeil-Girmani will take the reins on July 1 of this year. She arrives from the Empower Charter School in Brooklyn, NY where she was the Assistant Principal/Academic Director.
