Tucker has a new principal

Superintendent Mary Gormley has announced the new principal for the Tucker Elementary School. Dr. Elaine McNeil-Girmani will take the reins on July 1 of this year. She arrives from the Empower Charter School in Brooklyn, NY where she was the Assistant Principal/Academic Director.

Dr. McNeil-Girmani is not new to Milton. She was a second grade teacher at the Collicot from 2001 – 2005. Ms. Gormley commended the search committee for their hard work. The committee included Cunningham Principal Jon Redden, School Committee Member Becky Padera, K-12 Science Director Marilyn Decker,Tucker teachers Elizabeth Spitz and Trish Leahy; and Tucker parents Steve Paxhia, Suzeanne Carty and Kymberly Terry; as well as myself and Assistant Superintendent John Phelan.

Committee member Steve Pacha commended the selection of Dr. McNeil-Girmai. “This was truly a nationwide search and among a pool of well-qualified candidates, one clearly stood out among the rest.” He said he was further impressed during a site visit to Dr. McNeil-Girmai’s current school and said, “I’m delighted we have been able to recruit an outstanding principal for our wonderful Tucker School.”
