Applications are now available for the 24th Annual Milton Young Musicians’ Festival (MYMF), whose mission is to encourage town-wide support of young people with an interest in music, and to foster the development of performance skills. (Deadline is April 12th).
The 2010 Festival will be held on Saturday, May 8, at Milton Academy’s Kellner Performing Arts Center.
Applications are available from the music directors at Milton High School, Pierce Middle School, Milton Academy, Fontbonne Academy, St. Agatha’s, St. Mary’s, and Delphi Academy. They are also available at the reference desk on the second floor of Milton Public Library, or online at: http://www.miltonyoungmusicians.org/
The deadline for applications is Monday, April 12, 2010.
Who is eligible? Grade 6-12 students who:
- attend any of the schools in Milton, public or private, or
- live in Milton but attend school elsewhere, or
- who is a student of a Milton teacher.
- Additionally, any person up to the age of 25 years whose residence is Milton, who attends school in Milton, or who works in Milton may participate.
Categories: Voice, Piano, Strings, Winds (woodwinds and brass), Percussion.
There are six levels of entry for all categories. Required scales and repertoire listing for each level can be found in the white, 3-ring binder at the reference desk at Milton Public Library. Scales only are found at the website.
MYMF, directed by Emma Jean Moulton, is supported by Milton Performing Arts, and receives funding in part from the Milton Junior Woman’s Club, and by a grant from the Milton Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency.
