Gospel Night at East Congregational Church

The Men’s Ensemble of the Boston Community Choir will perform at 7:30pm on Saturday, April 10, 2010, in Fellowship Hall at East Congregational Church, UCC.

The new Men’s Ensemble consists of multiple voices from the choir and will perform gospel music, which Director Brother Dennis Slaughter says, “has the magical ability to comfort in times of sorrow; strengthen in times of weakness; celebrate in times of joy; and minister in times of spiritual need.” Every year since 1993 the choir has been featured at Gospel Night at Boston Symphony Hall.

Opening for the Ensemble will be singer/songwriter Glenn Kidder of Milton, performing original acoustic music.  Glenn,  originally from Pittsburgh, started playing at coffeehouses whle at Penn State.  For 30 years, he has also been a rhythm guitarist/ percussionist/vocalist with the band Cartoon.  You may remember Glenn from coffeehouses at the former Java Jo’s, and from his days as  “The Video Guy” and General Manager of Video To Go in East Milton Square.

Exquisite desserts, prepared by the Milk and Honey Baking Collaborative, will be available at very reasonable prices.  Proceeds from the concert will benefit the church and Interfaith Social Services of Quincy, which works to ensure that individuals and families from all walks of life have access to food, clothing and counseling.
