Baker takes Milton (barely), reflects tight race state wide

by Frank Schroth

It was/is an incredibly close race; but Baker won it according to major news outlets (ABC, NBC, CBS, and FOX) as reported on Boston.com. The Boston Globe is reporting Baker ahead but Coakley has yet to concede and Baker has agreed to wait for overnight tally (see story here.) The unofficial results here in Milton mirror how tight the race was sate wide. Baker won Milton by 109 votes. There were 11,711 votes cast in total.

In Milton Baker took precincts 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Coakley took percents 1, 2, 4, and 10.

The Governor’s race was the only race that was really a contest here.

Regarding the ballot questions, Milton voters went the way of the state:

  • Yes carried the day on Question 1 which eliminates gas tax indexing.
  • They voted No on Question 2 – which would have expanded the bottle bill
  • It was also No on Question 3 which would have expanded prohibitions on gaming.
  • And it was Yes on Question 4 which gets earned sick time for employees.

You can find complete results on the town clerk’s web site here.

I see a slight error in the article. Precinct 5 was mentioned as a win for both Baker and Coakley. I believe you meant to put precinct 4 on Coakley instead of precinct 5.
