Are you looking to save money on utility bills and enjoy the company of friends and neighbors while doing it? If so then Sustainable Milton’s Eco-Challenge may be right for you!
Sustainable Milton is launching the 2010 Eco Team Challenge, and they are looking for 200 families to form teams of 4 to 5 families each, that will commit to meet 4 times between November and March 2011. Using The Low Carbon Diet, an easy, step-by-step guide, teams will calculate their respective carbon footprints, share experiences as they experiment, and watch those savings accumulate. Three Milton families followed this guide, and each of them saved between $300 and $700 in their first year!
The official kickoff is October 30, 2010 at the Milton Public Library. Come for an hour between 10:00am and 1:00pm. Staff will sign you up, answer questions, provide information, and even inspire you. If available, bring your gas, electric and/or oil bills showing how much you used over the last year. Staff will help you begin to calculate your carbon footprint. You will also learn about free services, available incentives, or products that can help you cut energy use. Please assemble your team (on your street, in your neighborhood, at your church or club, or in your school), and choose an Eco Team Leader. Then come on down October 30th. Mark it in your calendar!
The 2010 Eco Team Challenge is free, and no skill is required. You decide what you can and cannot do. A number of suggested actions cost nothing, some have nominal costs, and others require more of an investment; but they pay back over time. There will be prizes for the BIGGEST CARBON LOSER!
Sustainable Milton will provide coordination and support to get teams started, and technical support along the way, as needed. They’ll collect results, and plan a celebration next spring to award the grand prize. The goal is to save money and have fun.

There are also copies at the library, or you can get copies (new or used) on-line.
