Dozens of players, parents and coaches recently brought more to the soccer fields than folding chairs and extra water. They brought donations of much-needed supplies for the Milton Food Pantry.
Organized by Milton Travel Soccer, the food drive took place during home games at Milton Health Care and Milton High School fields during first weekend in October.
The Milton Food Pantry has seen unprecedented demand this season, and donations are down, according to pantry officials.
Cash donations, non perishable food items and toiletries were all collected during the very successful drive and dropped off at the pantry by Milton Travel Soccer players before their games the following weekend.
To make a donation to the Milton Food Pantry, please write a check to “The Milton Community Food Pantry” and mail it to the Milton Food Pantry, Parkway United Methodist Church, 158 Blue Hills Parkway, Milton, MA 02186.
For further information about the pantry please pick up a brochure in the Town Hall foyer, the Milton library foyers, the Senior Center or any local church or synagogue, or call 617-696-0221.
