Just a quick head’s up that the DPW is beginning the work on Central Ave. Staff have been spray painting markers all over and have started to slice into the roadway. In an informal chat with Joe Lunch, Director of the DPW, we learned there will be basically three phases to the project.

Milton High – a key arrival and a key departure

In her most recent email blast Superintendent Gormley announced that Lawrence Rooney will be the new Milotn High School Athletic Director and Physical Education/Health/Wellness Director. There is also a departure. Yolanda Beech, Assistant Principal is leaving to start a business.
Congrats to Esprit de Vin on Best of Boston Award
Congratulations to Keith Mills and Esprit de Vin on the shop being awarded the 2013 Best Wine Shop, South in Boston Magazine’s annual “Best of Boston” issue. This photo is of a 16 y.o. Milton girl, Noni Adams. Noni ran away from home on June 21st. Investigators have identified a Quincy man of similar age that we believe she is with. She closed her Facebook page weeks ago. Senator Joyce Announces 71st Citizens’ Legislative Seminar in October
Senator Invites constituents to come learn the legislative process
Senator Brian A. Joyce has announced that the 71st Citizens’ Legislative Seminar (CLS) will be held this spring on Tuesday, Oct. 15 and Wednesday, Oct. 16 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the State House.
“This program gives residents of the Commonwealth a great opportunity to participate in the legislative process and get a unique perspective of state government,” said Joyce.

Beth Israel continues to grow – acquires Jordan Hospital

(JHSI) have signed a definitive agreement to bring Jordan Hospital into the BIDMC family, enhancing clinical services in 12 southeastern Massachusetts communities while allowing Jordan Hospital to retain local management and board governance.
Milton Quincy Congregation to Hold Open House
The New Milton/Quincy Congregation, formerly Temple Shalom of Milton, will hold its annual Fall Open House on Friday evening, August 16th from 5:30-8 p.m., as part of a Shabbat-N-Splash Pool Party, BYO Dairy Picnic and Family Service, at a private home in Milton. The selectmen had a lengthy session last week in which the discussed a variety of issues. In addition to a discussion of an appeal of the FAA decision and renewal of Ulin rink management contract (see post here), they had an extensive discussion of DPW issues, heard a traffic commission recommendation to address safety concerns at the library, and reviewed the harbormaster / police department relationship.

Boston and Randolph Police have recently seen an increase in residential breaks. The first reports of these crimes came as early as May but the past week has seen an increase. This unique type offense is referred to as a “Distraction B&E.” The targets of these crimes are almost always the elderly.
