Just a quick head’s up that the DPW is beginning the work on Central Ave. Staff have been spray painting markers all over and have started to slice into the roadway. In an informal chat with Joe Lunch, Director of the DPW, we learned there will be basically three phases to the project.
First will be work to address water mains and whatever other stuff is under there. They’ll fix that all up them resurface and put down a layer of paving. That work should be completed in the fall. They’ll let that bake in (my term) over the winter and then, come spring, they will put down a final layer and fit and finish bits. This is a frank description of the work – there is a lot more to it than that. It’s good news that it is starting. It will be a nuisance but a necessary one. If you live in the neighborhood you might want to start looking at Eliot and Brook as alternate routes when possible.
