After 20 years as Milton American Baseball’s President Kevin Berry is stepping down. Mr. Berry has been a longtime fixture in Milton Baseball both coaching and overseeing the American League players from age 4 through 12.

Jack Robinson of Milton looks like an average 13-year-old. He likes to play tennis, sail, hang out with friends and spend time with his new puppy, Hank. Jack isn’t your average teenager, however. He was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, in February of 2011, when he was 11 years old. (Read the full story here.)

Welcome Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills

We welcome Congregation Beth Shalom of the Blue Hills, formed from the merger of two long-established congregations. Temple Shalom of Milton and Temple Beth El of Quincy recently announced their merger, and with that complete, the memberships held a vote last week to decide on the new name.

Milton ranks 65 in Boston Magazine list of top schools

Everybody loves lists. US News & World Report (is it still called that?) have made it there stock in trade. Boston Magazine, like many regional urban publications, has taken a page from that playbook and run with it. They recently came out with their list of top schools in the Boston area and Milton ranks 65 out of 147. 

Friday teen movie @ MPL – “Back to the Future”

On Friday, September 13 at 3 p.m., the Teen Services Department of the Milton Library will show Back to the Future (1985) for students in grades 6-12. Admission is free and refreshments will be provided by the Friends of the Milton Public Library. The library is located at 476 Canton Ave., Milton, MA.

Please take very serious notice of this post. In the past couple of months, two homes (both unlocked) were entered by unknown individuals during the night. Last night, there were two such crimes after midnight. One on Hinckley Rd, and the second on Centre Lane. Both homes unlocked and items taken from each location. You have to LOCK your doors at night.

Health notice: Tips on reducing risk to West Nile and EEE virus

Milton, MAAs the summer comes to a close it is important to continue to take precautions to prevent mosquito-borne viruses as late summer and early fall (until the first hard frost) is usually a period with increased infection rates.  The recent and continuing detection of West Nile Virus (WNV) and Eastern Equine Encephalitis (EEE) activity in the Milton area certainly highlights the need for continued personal protection measures.
