Don Hussey, Author of Ticket To Ride, Speaks at Milton Public Library

Educators applaud the non-fiction book, Ticket To Ride, The Promise of America, as an inspiration to struggling students. Author Don Hussey of Hingham will share his personal story on Tuesday, October 16, 2012 from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Public Library located at 476 Canton Avenue, Milton.

Ticket to Ride is an unflinching memoir of a man who overcame almost impossible odds to realize the American dream as a businessman and candidate for U.S. Congress. Hussey inspires all to excel no matter what the obstacles. A book signing will follow.

Halloween Movie for teens @ MPL

On Friday, October 26 at 3 p.m., the Teen Services department of the Milton Public Library will screen a movie for middle and high school students. In honor of Halloween, students will have their choice of one of four scary movies: The Addams Family (1991), Cloverfield (2008), The Haunting in Connecticut (2009), or When A Stranger Calls (2006).

Genealogy and the 1940’s Census, Milton Public Library

Researching genealogy using the 1940’s Census and ancestry.com will be presented by expert Michael Brophy on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Public Library located at 476 Canton Avenue, Milton.

Milton Public Library Anime & Manga Club

Calling all teenage anime and manga fans! On Tuesday, October 16, from 6:30-8:00 p.m., join other fans of Japanese art and animation at the Milton Public Library. We’ll watch hang out and enjoy Japanese snacks while talking all things anime and manga.

Ron Della Chiesa to present “Ron’s Magic Victrola”

Boston broadcasting icon Ron Della Chiesa will share special moments in his 35 years of bringing music and musical legends alive on stage and over the airwaves. The second part of this series, Ron’s Magic Victrola, will take place on Wednesday, October 17th at 7:00 PM in the Function Room at 1372 Brush Hill Rd.

“Segregated Worlds” film series starts with “Hey Boo”

The first movie in the Milton Public Library’s film series called “Segregated Worlds” to help celebrate “Milton Reads” and To Kill A Mockingbird will be shown on Thursday, October 11th. The film is a documentary (unrated) called “Hey, Boo!: Harper Lee and ‘To Kill A Mockingbird'” and will be hosted by Milton middle school teacher Jeff Stoodt.
