Genealogy and the 1940’s Census, Milton Public Library

Researching genealogy using the 1940’s Census and ancestry.com will be presented by expert Michael Brophy on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 7 p.m. in the Keys Community Room (lower level) of the Milton Public Library located at 476 Canton Avenue, Milton.

The 1940 Census, publicly released in April 2012, chronicled the Great Depression into World War II. It is the first census that listed the informant, employment questions, and 1935 residence. Find out what population figures revealed about the 1940’s. Learn the basics for using the census, ancestry.com, and other tools to maximize personal research. Steve Brophy is the founder of Brophy Professional Genealogy and Heir Tracing in Abington. He is a columnist and lecturer in the Boston area, and a member of several genealogical societies.

Admission is free. The event is sponsored by The Friends of the Milton Public Library. For more information, please contact: Jean Hlady, Adult Services Librarian at (617) 698-5757.
