Democratic Town Committee to elect delegates to state convention

The Milton Democratic Town Committee will be meeting on Saturday, February 9th, 2013 to elect 20 delegates to the State Convention on June lst.
The State Convention will be held at the Tsongas Arena in Lowell Mass. This caucus and convention are great ways to get involved in the political process. You need to be a registered democratic to run as a delegate.

Planning Board to host Master Plan Visioning forum; public encouraged to attend

Milton community members are invited to a Public Visioning Forum on Saturday January 26th from 9 AM to noon at the Tucker Elementary School.  The forum is one of the initiatives of the community planning process that the Town has embarked on to create a town-wide Master Plan. The Plan will help the town identify policies, regulations and initiatives needed to guide changes in the community.

Knitting and Yarn Making Workshop at Milton Public Library

The Milton Public Library, located at 476 Canton Avenue, will host local fiber artist Nina Zonnevylle as she presents a workshop about knitting and making your own yarn.  She fell in love with spinning, weaving and knitting at an early age.  This one-hour program will be held in the Keys Community Room (lower level) at 2 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2013. 

Chess Tournament at the Library

On Saturday, January 26, 2013 International Master David Vigorito will serve as tournament director for “Chess-a-Palooza!” a fun and friendly scholastic chess tournament open to all Milton school students. Players of all abilities are welcome. Registration is required.

Milton Library Provides eBook Workshop

Staff at the Milton Public Library will teach a workshop introducing library patrons to the library’s ebook services at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, January 15.

“Ereaders are a very popular gift this holiday season,” said Emily Calkins, the library’s Young Adult Librarian. Ms. Calkins will lead the workshop. “Many people don’t realize that the library offers ebooks for checkout, so this is an opportunity for all those people who received ereaders for Christmas to get an overview of the ebook services we offer.”

St Agatha’s to host young adult event

Saint Agatha Parish, 432 Adams St. Milton will host an event for all Young Adults in Milton/Quincy on Thursday evening, January 10 at 7pm in the Gathering Space located in the lower church. Admission is free. Kenny Carberry will provide live music. Join Kenny, college students home on break, and other young adults across Milton for some time to hang out, reconnect and listen to live music.

“Catholicism” to be screened at St Agatha Parish

St Agatha Parish, 432 Adams St. Milton will show the DVD series “Catholicism” by Father Robert Barron Episode 1 on Tuesday January 8. There are two showings: First at 9:30 am and Second at 7 pm. Both showings are in the Gathering Space in the lower church.

Temple Shalom to screen “The Color of Paradise”

The Color of Paradise will be the next film within the theme “Insight into Iran” in this season’s Winter Movie Series of Temple Shalom of Milton, co-sponsored this year by the First Congregational Church and First Parish Church. The public is invited.
