Yesterday Representative Dan Cullinane, who represents Precincts 1 and 2 in Milton, picked up another key endorsement in his bid for re-election to the Massachusetts House. Congressman Mike Capuano gave Cullinane the thumbs up at Brothers Restaurant and Deli in Mattapan Square.
Coach Bowes is holding the 3rd Annual Comedy Night Saturday August 2nd at the American Legion, Milton, MA to raise funds for equipment and coaching for the MHS Football Team.

Carrick Realty has taken the next step in developing a 40B apartment building at the site of the old Hendries factory. They have filed for a comprehensive permit with the Milton Board of Appeals. The proposal, according to letter of eligibility, is for 57 rental units. There would be forty-nine 2-bedroom and eight 3-bedroom of which 15 would be affordable. A hearing has been scheduled for July 24 at 7:30pm.

Yesterday’s Globe had an investigative piece: Boston’s residency rule routinely flouted. The rule being flouted is one that requires Boston city employees to live within the city limits. What is of some interest is that, according to the associated graphic, the town city employees have chosen more than any other is Milton.

Yesterday we posted an item a reader had sent in. They had come across some Bent’s crackers at a museum in Tennessee. Recently the Globe paid a visit to G.H. Bent Cracker Factory here in Milton. You can view the photos here.
A small business can make a big difference. So it was during the Civil War when Bent’s hardtack crackers provided sustenance to Union troops. At the Battles of Chattanooga troops were at risk of starving when General Joseph Hooker of Massachusetts established a supply line dubbed the “cracker line” after the hardtack from Bent’s.
