There will be a 2nd community meeting on the East Milton Parking and Access Design Project on August 7th from 7:00pm – 9:00pm at the Council on Aging. The meeting “will provide an evolution of the design based on hybrid alternative concept plans in light of the work that has been accomplished since the meeting on May19th.”

Last night’s selectmen’s meeting was a municipal cornucopia of discussions on issues and items from an array of elected officials and department heads. Arguably two of the more interesting may have been an update from Selectmen Chair Conlon on the Hendries development and from DPW Director Joe Lynch on possible changes to sewer and water rates.

State Representative Dan Cullinane of the 12th Suffolk district which includes precincts 1 and 2 here in Milton has received another endorsement in his bid for re-election. This one comes from Milton’s native son and State Senator, Brian A. Joyce.
Beth Burnes of Milton selected as Interfaith Social Services’ Volunteer of the Week
Beth Burnes of Milton was recently selected as Interfaith Social Services’ volunteer of the week. Each week over one hundred local volunteers serve at Interfaith’s offices in Quincy. The comprehensive multi-service center provides assistance to families and individuals from the South Shore in need of food, clothing, housing assistance and counseling.

Concannon appointed Interim Principal of Collicot Elementary School

In a notice to parents and staff Mary Gormley, Superintendent of the Milton Public Schools, announced that Ms. Holly Concannon has been appointed to the position of Interim Principal of Collicot Elementary School. Ms. Concannon is currently the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator for Cunningham and Collicot Elementary Schools.
Master Plan Committee seeks your input on key issues

The Master Plan Committee is in the final phase of drafting their report. The report will contain several months of research on specific topics concerning Milton’s future. (e.g. housing, commercial development, preservation, etc). There are certain specific questions that the committee seeks additional resident input on.

Joyce pushing for improvements to Granite Avenue
Senator Brian A. Joyce recently met with Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) officials to advocate for the rebuilding of Granite Avenue from East Milton Square to the Boston line. The highway, described to Joyce by one neighbor as akin to a runway strip, would be transformed into a scenic boulevard under the plan advanced by Joyce.
