In a notice to parents and staff Mary Gormley, Superintendent of the Milton Public Schools, announced that Ms. Holly Concannon has been appointed to the position of Interim Principal of Collicot Elementary School. Ms. Concannon is currently the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator for Cunningham and Collicot Elementary Schools.

In her notice Ms. Gormley said:

I am confident that Collicot parents/guardians, teachers, staff and most importantly, students, will thrive under the leadership of Ms. Concannon. She possesses many qualities which will make her an excellent principal. These include a thorough knowledge of curriculum and instruction, boundless energy and enthusiasm, a strong work ethic and passion for her profession.

Ms. Concannon is filling the vacancy created by Janet Sheehan who has been appointed Interim Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum and Human Resources. Before coming to Milton in 2010, Ms. Concannon served as a teacher at the Murphy School in Dorchester; the Trotter School in Roxbury; and the Edward Everett School in Dorchester. She served as Interim Co-Principal of the Glover Elementary School in the 2012-13 school year.

Leroy Walker, Chair of the School Committee, is strongly behind the appointment, saying:

I am very pleased that Holly will assume the role of Interim Principal at the Collicot. Holly has distinguished herself as a strong advocate for student achievement and for ensuring that we are educating the whole child. It should also make for an exciting experience for her own children, who are students at the Collicot!

Ms. Concannon will begin her new position on August 1st.
