There were actually two films being shot here in Milton

The Ted 2 film circus is packing up and leaving town. They have pretty much cleared out of the Turners Pond lot and the Hoosic Club is returning to normal. We never did spot the teddy bear but we did bump into the police chief who informed us that the crew over at the Ulin rink was for a different film. There were two film production companies in Milton this week. The other was for Good Kids starring Ashley Judd.

St. Michael’s to Host Rev. William Beers of Food for the Poor

On Sunday, September 21 St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Milton, MA welcomes The Reverend William Beers of Food for the Poor. Food for the Poor is an interdenominational Christian ministry serving the poorest of the poor in 17 countries throughout the Caribbean and Latin America. Rev. Beers has spoken on behalf of the organization for over 18 years and will share his experiences of visiting and helping those living in devastating poverty.

Milton Cultural Council accepting grant applications

The Milton Cultural Council welcomes applications from individuals, artists, non?profit
organizations, and schools for grants for the 2015 funding cycle. The deadline to apply for grants
that support cultural activities, which take place in Milton, is Wednesday, October 15, 2014.

Milton among parishes named for next phase of pastoral plan

The Archdiocese of Boston officially announced the parishes that will take part in Phase Three of its pastoral plan, Disciples in Mission, Sept. 15.

The third phase is set to see 37 parishes organized into 18 collaborative ministries that will involve the communities of Braintree, Cambridge, Dorchester, Dracut, Georgetown, Lexington, Lowell, Merrimac, Milton, Newburyport, Plainville, Randolph, Somerville, South Boston, Tyngsboro, Wellesley, Weymouth, and Wrentham. Senate Passes Liquor License Bill for Milton

This afternoon Senator Brian A. Joyce confirmed that the Massachusetts State Senate has passed enabling legislation for the town of Milton to issue a liquor license for the site of the former theatre in East Milton Square. The bill passed the Senate on his request on behalf of the town. Once signed by the Governor, the Selectmen will be able to issue the additional license. The bill was filed by Representative Timilty who shepherded it through the house. You can find the bill history here.

Hendries demolition likely to be rescheduled

There is a contract between the town and Carrick Realty to tear down their respective portions of the Hendries building by September 30th. This countdown timer would help keep tabs on the demo date for which many are waiting for with bated breath.

Given the discussion at the last Conservation Commission meeting on Tuesday they may have to bate their breath a bit longer. While this is the date that has been set; it is highly unlikely to be the date that it will happen.

All About Neighborhood Associations: a Milton & Boston Roundtable to air on MATV

Mark Wahlberg filmed more of “Ted 2” at the Hoosic Club in Milton on Wednesday. The comedy sequel, which has been filming around Boston for the past few months, continues the story of a Boston guy (Wahlberg) and his teddy bear best friend, who’s voiced by director Seth MacFarlane. Dorchester man arrested for heroin possession

A Dorchester man was arrested in Milton for allegedly possessing more than two dozen grams of what officers suspected to be heroin, officials said.

Officers stopped a Mitsubishi SUV on Hillside Street around 10 p.m. Tuesday for a motor vehicle violation, State Police said in a posting on their blog. (Read the full story here.)
