Ex-Head of Guidance at MHS charged with larceny

Kenneth Aubert, the recently retired Guidance Director at Milton High School, has been charged by the Norfolk County District Attorney’s office with 5 counts of larceny. The larceny counts involve funds collected for Advanced Placement testing fees from 2009 – 2013. Aubert is alleged to have taken “roughly $30,000,” according to the DA’s office.

Schools push to offer 21st-century technology

The other day our photo of the day featured students using technology at MHS from a portfolio in the Boston Globe on technology use in area schools. The corresponding article was published in yesterday’s paper.

Board of Appeals 40B Hendries hearing: Traffic data update requested

The Board of Appeals resumed a hearing on Carrick Realty’s comprehensive permit application to develop a 57 unit apartment building at the site of the old Hendries factory Tuesday night (09/30). At a previous session the board had requested peer reviews of engineering and traffic/parking impacts. Those reviews were completed, submitted to the applicant for comment, and presented and discussed last night. The consultants performing the peer review, Janet Bernardo of the Horsley Witten Group, and Jennifer Conley of Conley Associates, largely concurred with the plans, methodology, and analysis of the Carrick Realty’s team.

MILTON, The Board of Registrars is announcing that the last day to register to vote for the STATE ELECTION is WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 15, 2014. The Office of the Town Clerk will remain open until 8:00 P.M. on that evening to assist Milton residents who are not presently registered to vote and wish to vote in the State Election on Tuesday, November 4, 2014.

You receive a phone call from someone stating “your family has been in an accident or others cases, they are in jail.”

Blessing of the Animals at First Parish

On Sunday, October 12, First Parish in Milton, Unitarian Universalist, will hold its annual Blessing of the Animals.  In this unique service, congregants are invited to bring their pets of all shapes and sizes to receive individual blessings from Interim Minister, Rev. Hank Peirce.  This is always an experience to cherish, and members of the broader community are invited to come with their furry, feathered, scaly, or slippery friends.

Learning Preschool to present talk on early childhood sensory experiences

On Wednesday, October 8th at 7:00 PM, the Learning Circle Preschool will host Priscilla Hayden-Sloane, MHA, OTR/L LEND Fellow and Occupational Therapist for a presentation designed to enhance each participant’s understanding of current research about brain development and the relationship between a child’s sensory experiences and his or her ability to respond appropriately to social, environmental and academic demands.
