The town accountant and Chair of the Capital Improvements Committee, Amy Dexter, appeared at the invitation of Selectman Hurley. She came bearing good news for proponents of redevelopment of East Milton’s parking and traffic. The Capital Improvements Committee revisited their initial recommendation and approved an additional request for $300,000
Viewers of the last Selectmen’s meeting may not have received the decision they had all been waiting for: whether Annmarie Fagan would be one of the two finalists regarding the selection of a new Town Administrator; but the Selectmen did discuss several issues and there was quite a crowd on hand to voice their concerns regarding them. And there were the Girl Scouts.

The Board of Selectmen approved $3, 076,605 in capital improvements as recommended by the Capital Improvement Committee chaired by Amy Dexter, Town Accountant. Ms. Dexter. Joe Lynch, Director of the DPW, joined Ms. Dexter to present the recommendations. This is likely because the DPW will receive almost 70% of the $3 million. Lynch spoke to that issue.

The days are long but last night’s meeting of the Board of Selectmen was short. Among the issues discussed was whether or not there is a need for an October Town Meeting. At last spring’s annual town meeting an article passed that put a fall town meeting on the calendar for October. However, there are not currently any issues to be taken up.
Representative Walter Timilty appeared before the Board of Selectmen last week to notify them of two issues, one of which was the filing of an amendment to the supplemental budget that would grant the town a 25 year lease for the Ulin Rink on Unquity Road.
The Board of Selectmen have signed a contract with Curry College to operate the Ulin Rink for the next three-year. The rink is scheduled to open tomorrow (9/15).
Last night (9/8) Selectmen were hopeful of signing an agreement for Curry College to operate the Ulin Rink. However, the Labor Day Holiday coupled with the fact that there are three parties to the agreement (ie Town of Milton, DCR, and Curry College) and their respective legal counsels, each of whom needs to review any change large or small made by any of the other parties, results in a process that is anything but quick.
