“Oh Holy Night: A Festival of Lessons and Carols” at St. Michael’s

 
St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Milton, MA presents “Oh Holy Night: A Festival of
Lessons and Carols” on Sunday, December 21 at 5pm. The candlelight service includes
short Bible readings telling the story of God’s redeeming work in the world through the
birth of Jesus Christ. The Chancel Choir, Schola Cantorum, Cathedral Choir and the
Westminster Brass will present much-loved and celebrated carols, hymns, and anthems.

BoA votes to refer 711 Randolph Ave 40B issue to DHCD

The Milton Board of Appeals voted yesterday to send a letter to DHCD that will provide evidence in support of the town’s claim that 1.5% of its acreage has affordable housing. Kathleen O’Donnell, an attorney representing the town, and Bill Clark, Town Planner, presented the materials to the board which consisted of a map and inventory of affordable units.

The Planning Board approved changes to the old Marketplace Cafe space per a request from The Milton Fruit Center, owners of the space, and Suzanne Lombardi, the new tenant who will be opening an eatery in the location. The plan calls for renovating a dormer to increase the height from 4’9″ to 7’11”. The increased height will improve employee safety and comfort while working. The change does not increase the floor space or seating capacity.

Has the Community Preservation Act been a success?

The Boston Globe has piece giving the point of views of two Scituate officials regarding the Community Preservation Act. Milton voters voted not to adopt the Community Preservation Act recently. The Globe provides two sides. One from Karen Connolly, chairwoman of the Scituate Community Preservation Committee who supports it and Stephen Coulter, member of the Scituate Housing Authority board and the board’s representative to the town’s Community Preservation Committee who is not. Church Seeks Purchase of Hilliside Property

An “inner-city church” is seeking to purchase a multi-acre parcel off of Hillside Street in Milton according to Todd Hamilton, a developer who has the property under contract. He said the church, did not identify due to confidentiality concerns, had had contacted him about buying the land and that serious negotiations are underway.

The Fiscal Year 2015 tax rate has been approved by the Massachusetts Department of Revenue at $13.94 for residential and $22.40 for commercial and industrial properties. Hate letters to black staff shake Milton Academy

Racial hate letters targeted two black staff members at Milton Academy shortly after a meeting held to discuss diversity, and investigators believe the anonymous messages came from someone inside the prestigious private school, according to law enforcement authorities and others familiar with the matter.
