A tale of liberation

by Frank Schroth

This evening Passover begins. It is a very special time for Jews, and as with many special days that are observed by one relegion or another there is, perhaps a lesson for all.

Rabbi Brad Hirshfield, an author and commentator for The Huffington Post, writes “Passover .  .  .   is a roadmap to liberation, both personal and global, and who doesn’t want, and deserve, to be free?”

Recently a Milton man told me a tale of liberation. This is it.

A Milton treasure talks about Milton’s past

Anthony Sammarco returned to Milton this week to give a talk at the library. Mr. Sammarco, who recently moved away, is well known to the town and expert on it. He spoke about Milton’s industrial past. With him here are just two of the many who were glad to see him.

During April, National Poetry Month, we are posting a poem a day. If you would like to suggest one, please email it in. Pete Jackson submitted the two following poems. They are lyrics from the band King Crimson and were written by Peter John Sinfield and Robert Fripp. The songs serve as book ends their album In the Wake of Poseiden.

Peace: A Beginning, by Peter John Sinfield and Robert Fripp

I am the ocean
Lit by the flame
I am the mountain
Peace is my name

Good Friday Labyrinth Invitation

East Congregational Church extends a special invitation to the community. Our Labyrinth, though ALWAYS open to the community, is painted on a parking lot, and therefore at times partially or
completely inaccessible due to parked cars. However, we are blocking off that parking lot all day on Good Friday (April 6) in order to make this spiritual and meditative resource available to all who wish to take some time out of their day to quiet their spirit through the practice of meditative walking.

Poem for today – Desiderata

During April, National Poetry Month, we are posting a poem a day. If you would like to suggest one, please email it in. The following poem was sent in by Elizabeth Thomas.

Desiderata, by Max Ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,
and remember what peace there may be in silence.
As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons.
Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others,
even to the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.
