Why is Question 1 on Milton’s April 28th ballot?
In 2007, a Milton firefighter was seriously injured in the line of duty as a result of being struck by a drunk driver. The Town of Milton is legally obligated to pay all medical expenses relating to the firefighter’s injury during his lifetime. The expenses are substantial, averaging approximately $425,000 per year in each of the last four years.

The trees are coming into leaf

The Planning Board last met on April 23 and among issues taken up was a continuation of the hearing on Thayer Nursery’s application for a special permit to restore their landscaping business to their Hillside location.
Phil Joehenning, an abutter who is opposed to the granting of the permit, continued to raise questions.
Last week we linked to a post from Milton View that provided a financial snapshot of Milton relative to other towns. This week, Milton View, published by Warrant Committee member Phil Matthews, supplements that post with one that illustrates where Milton sits relative to other communities with regard to library expenditures.

The Friends of the Milton Public Library invite you to a special Collectible and Rare Books Sale on Saturday, May 9, from 10am-2pm, with a Friends Members-Only Preview Sale on Thursday, May 7 from 6:30pm-8:30pm. Hundreds of unique and unusual books of all categories, collected over the last ten years, with some dating back to the mid-1800s, will be for sale.
The Planning Board will be meeting in the Blute Conference Room at Town Hall on April 23 at 6:30. The agenda includes but is not limited to: a hearing on the citizens petition for a sign moratorium, a continuation of the hearing on a condominium bylaw and a continuation of the Thayer Nursery special permit application.
