Last night over 100 residents from Quincy discussed the traffic on Governors Plymouth and East Milton Square. They met with town officials at the Elks Lodge. There were also a smattering of Milton residents in attendance as well as Tom Hurley and Bob Sweeney from the Milton Board of Selectmen, interim Town Administrator Annmarie Fagan and DPW director Joe Lynch. Last week they got an earful from Milton residents. Last night they got an earful from Quincy.
Artspace Milton workshop class welcomes new students – gazebo show tonight
A is for Autumn one of several Artspace Milton classes that are underway and they still have openings. There are 5 weeks left to the session and new students are welcome. Look how much fun Patrick is having! The tuition will be prorated accordingly. Classes take place on Thursdays from 1:30 – 2:30 at the Milton Public Library. Milton Reads! 2012 presents “Hey Boo” & a dramatic reading this week end
Events this week end: There will be a screening of the documentary “Hey Boo” at Fuller Village this evening, 10/26, at 7:00pm. And on Sunday, 10/28, there will be dramatic reading presented by the MHS Drama Club and Milton Players – that takes place at the Milton Public Library @ 2:00pm. Hope to see you there!

Artists at the Library!
The Milton Public Library will be hosting several artists during November, December and January. For the month of November, we welcome Milton local Faith Ninivaggi, a photojournalist and fine art photographer. Her beautiful work will grace the Wotiz Gallery on the first floor and it ranges from news photos and documentaries to portraits and musicians to personal scenes. There will be an opening reception for this exhibit held on Thursday, November 8th at 6:15 PM.
MHS Boys soccer heading to playoffs
The Milton Boys soccer team will head into their last home game this evening with a 6-9-1 record. That record is strong enough to carry them to their third consecutive State Tournament appearance.
Tonight they will face Brookline in the last home game and a game that will feature a send off for the seniors on the team. The game is at 7:00pm at Brooks Field. Their last game will be at Veterans Stadium in North Quincy against North Quincy. This is the second leg of the annual Town LIne Cup tournament. The tournament consists of two games (one home and one away). The total scores of the 2 game series wins the tournament. Milton won the first game at home 5-0.. Coach Mike Madden expects these last two games to be hard fought matches.

Milton 3, Dedham 1: Second half denial

Hairspray looks great! And opens this week end!
We recently stopped by Milton High School and caught a bit of the Hairspray dress rehearsal. If you have had the pleasure of attending a MHS musical production you might have wondered, “How can they do better than that?” (Remember Anything Goes?) Well, here they go again. Alert – Board of Health to offer flu clinic
The Milton Board of Health will be holding a public flu clinic on Thursday, October 25th from 5 – 7 pm at the Council on Aging, 10 Walnut Street. This clinic is open to all Milton residents ages 4 and up. You can learn more here.
Fight Hunger with the Hunger Games
Help the Milton Public Library fight hunger in Milton! On Tuesday, Nov. 14, the library’s Teen Services department will host a screening of The Hunger Games for students in grades 6 – 12. Teens are encouraged to bring canned food or dry goods; the food collected at the event will be donated to the Milton Community Food Pantry to provide food assistance to Milton families.
Day 1 – Fall 2012 Town Meeting: Demolition appropriation approved; TM to continue 10/29
There was a presidential debate, a NL pennant game, and Monday Night Football but none proved to be an incentive to accelerate the pace of town meeting. It was after 9:00pm and the first article had not yet been put to bed. The article recommended that $198,278 of unrestricted general government aid be appropriated to the Reserve Fund. It is the anticipated use of the funds, demolition of the town owned portion of the Hendries building, as referenced in Article 4 that created the lengthy discussion.
