Natick tops Milton 48-34

The roar over wind turbines

The following article does not reference Milton. Milton has been seeking to erect a turbine on town owned land that abuts land leased to Granite Links golf course. Granite Links challenged construction of the turbine and a draft ruling from an arbitrator was in favor of the golf course. A final decision has not been released as of 1/4.

Doreen Reilly said her family can’t sleep at night because the wind turbine less than 1,000 feet away sounds like a “jet liner hovering” over her Kingston home. During the day, Reilly said, she gets headaches because the spinning blades from the 400-foot-tall structure cause sunlight to flash like “a strobe light” throughout her home. Stephanie Nephew returning to Glover Elementary; principalship to be job shared

Superintendent Mary C. Gormley announced this week that Stephanie Nephew will be returning to her position as principal of the Glover as part of an arranged job-share. Ms. Nephew will serve as co-principal with Drew Echelson. Mr. Echelson has been serving as principal since the beginning of the school year while Ms. Nephew was on family leave. She will return on Monday, January 7th at which time they will share the roles and responsibilities.

Knitting and Yarn Making Workshop at Milton Public Library

The Milton Public Library, located at 476 Canton Avenue, will host local fiber artist Nina Zonnevylle as she presents a workshop about knitting and making your own yarn.  She fell in love with spinning, weaving and knitting at an early age.  This one-hour program will be held in the Keys Community Room (lower level) at 2 PM on Saturday, January 19, 2013. 

Sweet Life fills niche in Lower Mills village

At the far end, near the entrance, it’s a bakery, with an assortment of pastries and pies and muffins and breads and cakes squared off and stacked high and gleaming in the bright windows facing Dorchester Avenue. Chess Tournament at the Library

On Saturday, January 26, 2013 International Master David Vigorito will serve as tournament director for “Chess-a-Palooza!” a fun and friendly scholastic chess tournament open to all Milton school students. Players of all abilities are welcome. Registration is required.

Senator Joyce Sworn In, 188th Session Underway

Senator Brian A. Joyce has officially been sworn in to represent the Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth District for the 188th Session of the General Court. Joyce was sworn into office by Governor Deval Patrick during a ceremony at the State House in Boston.
