Residents concerned about proposed flight path; petition initiated

Residents are voicing concern and opposition to the FAA’s proposed flight path over Milton. The topic came up informally at a focus group during yesterday’s Master Plan forum at Tucker School and an online petition has been started urging the FAA to stop runway 33L from flying over Milton.
FAA proposes new flight path over Milton, Canton Randolph
The following coverage provides some comments on the FAA’s proposed flight change from Judy Kennedy, Milton’s liaison. Ms. Kennedy will be appearing before the Milton Board of Selectmen at their February 7th session. The article states that, “The proposed flight path is over Curry College, Route 138, parts of Canton Avenue, Brushfield Road as well as other areas in Milton, Canton, and Randolph.” Ms. Kennedy characterizes the proposal as “unacceptable.” You can find the full story here.

Heading into union offices, Lynch says ‘final decision’ on Senate race after Kerry confirmation
Stephen Lynch, who is one of Milton’s congressional representatives (the other is Mike Capuano), is waiting on Kerry’s confirmation before announcing a decision on whether to run for Kerry’s senate seat. Capuano has stated he will not run and US Attorney Ortiz who had been mentioned is highly unlikely at this point as she deals with the firestorm of criticism of her office’s handling of the Schwartz affair. Perhaps most interesting to Milton is what will happen with Lynch’s seat should he run and win. Read the Dorchester Reporter coverage of Lynch’s decision here. Meanwhile the presumed Republican candidate, Scott Brown, has yet to announce and that is making some in the party nervous as reported in today’s Globe. Mtg notes: Selectmen 01.24.13 – BoS receive 4 finalists for Town Administrator post; discuss process
The Board of Selectmen had a short meeting but they discussed one topic that Member Keohane would characterize as one of the most important decisions they would make this year: the selection of a new town administrator. They received 4 candidates from the Town Administrator search committee.
Milton Players to present Moon Over Buffalo
The Milton Players continue their 80th season with Ken Ludwig’s madcap backstage comedy Moon Over Buffalo, to be presented February 1-10. Moon Over Buffalo is a popular farce about fading actors George and Charlotte Hay, who arrive in Buffalo, NY to perform Cyrano de Bergerac and Private Lives with their traveling theater troupe.
