Milton Public Library to Provide on-line magazine service

Milton Public Library to Screen Classic Film Noir

On Thursday February 28th, the Milton Public Library will screen one of Humphrey Bogart’s lesser-known but critically acclaimed movies as part of its “Movie Masculinity” series. In A Lonely Place, a 1950 film noir starring Humphrey Bogart and Gloria Grahame, is celebrated today as a classic. Bogart plays Dix, a down-on-his-luck screenwriter with a bad temper. Falsely accused of murder, he is comforted and then flourishes under the influence of an aspiring actress (Grahame).

Prinicipal Uretsky to leave Tucker at end of year

Yesterday was a sad day for the Tucker School community and the Milton school district in general. Superintendent Gormley announced that Marcia Uretsky, Tucker’s highly regarded principal, would be leaving at the end of the year to take the helm of the Lincoln-Eliot Elementary School in Newton.

Town Hall Storm Advisory / School cancelled for tomorrow 2/8

Due to the anticipated Blizzard, effective tonight 2/7/13 there will be no on-street parking until Monday morning 2/11/13. Vehicles who fail to comply with the parking ban will be towed.

  • During and after the storm, people are asked not to blow, plow, or shovel snow into the streets.

Katie Conlon Announces Candidacy for Selectman

0029_Conlin_ps-Edit-BWI am running for Selectman because I love Milton and want to give something back to the town in which I was raised and have been fortunate to spend most of my life. I also want to contribute my service in town government and my experience as an attorney to help make the Board of Selectmen more independent and effective and its decision making process more transparent.

Cancellations for 2/9: all day Warrant Committee mtg; FAME can drive; Milton Democratic Caucus; Food Pantry

FAME has cancelled their bottle and can drive that was to be held this Saturday 2/9 due to the weather forecast which calls for heavy snow to begin late Friday and continue into Saturday. Likewise the Milton Democratic Caucus and the Warrant Committee meetings have also postponed their meetings for that date, Both events will be rescheduled. Forecasters: Potentially historic storm will intensify Friday night

The potentially historic storm expected to hammer Massachusetts with up to 2 feet of snow, high winds, and coastal flooding will start with just a few flakes Friday morning, but by that night, snow could be falling thick and fast, creating dangerous conditions on the road, the National Weather Service says.
