Just in time for a snowed in week end! The library is not providing what amounts to a free online magazine stand. YOu can browse, download and read a wide range of magazines without leaving your desk. Following is the release from the Milton Public Library.

The Milton Public Library is happy to announce the launch of Zinio for Libraries, a new way for library users to download magazines. Zinio for Libraries is a new edition of the popular digital newsstand Zinio that has been designed specifically for library patrons.

“I am thrilled that the Library is able to continue to expand its online presence, and to make even more digital content available to the residents of Milton,” said William Adamczyk, Director of the Milton Public Library.

Milton library users can find the link to Zinio at our home page www.miltonlibrary.org. You will also be able to find instructions on how to use the service.

Zinio’s wide range of magazines includes areas such as sports, entertainment, travel, business, and more. And with iPad®, iPhone®, Kindle Fire, and Android® compatibility, Zinio makes it easy to view stunning digital magazines on the go, or on your PC or Mac. Zinio takes the reading experience even further with intuitive navigation, key word article search and interactive rich media elements such as audio, video, and live links.

Zinio for Libraries provides a quick and easy way for patrons to read digital copies of their favorite magazines through a digital platform that recreates magazines page-for-page, including full-color pictures. Simply by using their Milton Public Library card, patrons will be able to read, interact with, and explore the largest selection of magazines anywhere.

This new service is being made available through the Old Colony Library Network, in partnership with RBdigital from Recorded Books, the world’s largest independent producer of audiobooks.

“OCLN is proud to add Zinio to our expanding list of on-line resources. With Zinio for Libraries we can offer online access to 145 popular magazines, including “Consumer Reports,” and “Newsweek,”’ said OCLN Executive Director, David Slater. Each magazine comes complete with full text articles and images. Perhaps best of all, there are no wait periods or “holds.” Each current issue is immediately available to any library patron with a valid OCLN library card.
